Occupy Learning Visual Identity

Occupy Learning explores how to reclaim public space as learning space. By transforming public space with interactive learning, the project stimulates personal growth and strengthens community bonds. By expanding the definition and practice of learning, we open ourselves and our societies to new possibilities.
For this project, we aimed to design an interactive and flexible identity that allowed the space for children and grown ups — the participants of the events — to interact with and make their own.

The starting point was a simple matrix, a blueprint emulating the urban grid on top of which we added and subtracted basic geometric shapes — the visual genesis of infrastructure and public space (roads, squares, buildings, etc.).

The flexible typeface created through this process reflects the "learning by experimenting" nature of the project and provided us with an interactive platform to connect with the general public. During the events, postcards were made available for the participants. Together, they drew on them, filling the grid with their own letter designs, wishes, thoughts, etc.
